Walter Davis Obituary

VICTOR - Walter Ray Davis (Kayo), 56, of Victor MT passed away Saturday September 22, 2018 at home with his partner LeeAnn Scheffer and brothers Jim Davis & Rob Davis by his side. He was born February 18, 1962 in Ronan MT the son of Donald Ray Davis and the late Geraldine Davis.

Walt was raised in Ronan on the family ranch, where he and his brothers worked and played.  There family enjoyed hunting, camping and especially racing.  Walt graduated from Ronan High School in May of 1980.  After graduation he attended the U of M.  Walt met Margot and they were married in 1992 and she preceded him in death.

His family grew up around racing.  In the early 2000’s, Walt fell in love with Autocross. Which intern his brothers, uncles, dad, mom, LeeAnn and step-kids all participated in.  Walt was still active in racing until his passing.  His last race was run a few weeks ago with his brothers, dad and numerous friends by his side.  Walt had a love for hunting and fishing with many many memories.  In 2017, he was able to get his bull elk with the help of his step-son, Robert Brandenburg and his grandson, Billy Brandenburg.  Walt loved living in the Bitterroot.  With work and racing he has numerous friends all over the state of Montana. Walt was always eager to lend a hand to anyone in need.

In 2010, LeeAnn and Walter began there life together.  He became a very loved member of the family, always willing to go to all the sporting events.  Walt particularly enjoyed cheering on the Victor Pirates in football.  He spent many hours watching kids and grandkids participate in basket ball, wrestling, baseball, rugby and rodeo.  Camping, fishing and hunting were cherished family memories.  Walt also introduced the boys to racing in autocross.

Walt worked for the State of Montana Department of Transportation for 27 years.  He had great pride in the fact he had worked on roads all over the state.  Walt served in the National Guard from 1982 to 1998.  He was a Staff Sergeant serving on M1 Abram Tanks.

Walt was preceded in death by his wife, Margot and his mother, Geraldine Davis,

He is survived by his partner, LeeAnn Scheffer of Hamilton; father, Don Davis of Ronan; brother, Jim & Chris Davis and niece, Michelle Davis all of Ronan, brother, Robert Davis of Malta; step-kids, Robert & Betty Brandenburg of Victor, Kristal Brandenburg of Victor, Tyler Scheffer of Valley City, ND, Shai Scheffer of Mesa, AZ, Steven & Shania Scheffer and Jadyn Scheffer all of Hamilton; grandkids, William, Shelby and Paylin Brandenburg, Taylor and Kyla Tacker, Atalie Godard, Jaxon Brandenburg and Cameron Ball.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 27, 2018 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm and on Friday, September 28 from 9:00 am until 10:00 am at the Daly-Leach Chapel.  Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:00 am at the Daly-Leach Chapel with a reception following in the funeral home’s community room.  Graveside services with Military Honors will be held at 3:00 on Friday at Mountain View Cemetery in Ronan.  Condolences may be left for the family at www.dalyleachchapel.com.
