HAMILTON - Jeffrey T. Dwigans, 57, of Hamilton passed away on July 12, 2019 of an accidental drowning. Jeff was attempting to save his beloved dog, Henry, when they both drowned in the Bitterroot River. His love for the river drew him and Henry there frequently.
Jeff was born February 25, 1962, in Idaho Falls, Idaho to the late Ron "Red" Dwigans and June Dwigans. The family moved to the Bitterroot Valley when Jeff was seven years old. It was at that early age that he started fishing the Bitterroot River and fell in love with the thrill of catching the Big One. He had a tremendous love for the outdoors and it was there that he found peace. He was a skilled fisherman, hunter and trapper. Jeff was an excellent craftsman and owned Big Horn Leather, where he custom made leather archery products.
Survivors include daughter, Amber (Aaron) Armintrout; granddaughter, Kylie; grandson, Barrett; daughter, Kristy (Eric) Dennison; granddaughter, Brylee; grandson, Jhace all of Missoula. Also surviving are brother, Kurt, Hamilton; sister, Rhonda (Mike) Dembisky, Darby; sister, Casie (Bob) Gilmore, Ft. Collins, Colorado; sister, Kellie Blessinger, Idaho Falls, Idaho; aunt, Joy Dwigans, Idaho Falls, Idaho; and two nephews and two nieces.
A celebration of life for Jeff and Henry will be held Saturday, July 27, 2019 at 5:00 p.m. at River Park in Hamilton. Condolences may be left for the family at www.dalyleachchapel.com.
