Cecelia Ohl Obituary

HAMILTON - Cecelia C. Ohl, 91, of Hamilton passed away November 17, 2019 at Valley View Estates Health Care Center.   She was born October 26, 1928 in Missoula, Montana, the daughter of the late George and Theresa (McGuire) Riley.

When Cecelia was five years old, her family moved from Ismay, Montana to the Bitterroot Valley.  She attended school in Corvallis for all twelve years.  She maintained friends from those days up to the time of her death.

She married Glenn Ohl on July 20, 1946.  She counted as some of her greatest blessings, being a citizen of the United States, living in Montana, and especially living in the Bitterroot Valley for most of her life.  She loved to see the sun rise over the Sapphires in the East, and set over the Bitterroots in the west.

Cecelia was a wonderful seamstress, sewing each of her daughter’s wedding gowns, and many other beautiful dresses over the years.  She loved to knit, crochet, do crossword puzzles, and cheer on the GRIZ!   She loved to make dolls, many of which were given to her grandchildren, and now great grandchildren.  A treasured gift for the grandchildren was the beautiful quilts she lovingly sewed for them.

Dogs, cats and horses were always an important part of her life.  She loved them all, but held a special place in her heart for Kate the cat, who was her constant companion the last eight years. She worked for many years as a grocery store clerk, both at Bay’s Store in Corvallis, and Fairway Market in Hamilton.   She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 1430.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Ohl, in April, 2011; and  her grandson, Jeremy, in 2017. She was the last remaining member of her immediate family, which included sisters, Ellen (Ed) Schilke, Patricia (Earl) Perry; and brothers, Rolla, Jack and Roy; and extended family, Lewis (Lucille) Ohl, Mary (Dale) Pendergraft, and Ruth (Frank) Miller. Cecelia is survived by her four daughters, Glenda (Robert) Thompson, Margaret Ohl, Nancy (Tom) Morlock, and Jean (Roger) Hansen; six grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by 24 nieces and nephews, and numerous great-nieces and nephews.

We will honor her life on Saturday November 23rd with a burial service at Corvallis Cemetery at 12:30, and a chapel service and reception at Daly Leach Memorial Chapel beginning at 2:00 pm.

She was a caregiver to all, especially her husband Glenn, and will be greatly missed.
